Reverend Dr. Eric Fechon Hairston, Sr.

The Reverend Dr. Eric Fechon Hairston, Sr. was born in Martinsville, VA to the proud parents of Herman and Lois Hairston.  His is married to the former Tina C. Kellam of Ridgeway, and to this union was born two children, a son, Eric Jr. (EJ) and a daughter, Moriah LaShaun.

Reverend Dr. Hairston, Sr. received his high school diploma from George Washington Carver High School in Fieldale.  He received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Norfolk State University.  In addition, Pastor Hairston earned a diploma in Theology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, the Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Divinity from Bethlehem Bible College and Seminary, Roanoke, Virginia.  He has also completed 15 hours of post-graduate studies in the field of Practical Ministry from Master's Graduate School of Divinity, Evansville, Indiana.

Pastor Hairston was reared in the Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. S. B. Stevenson and the current Pastor, Dr. Thurman O. Echols, Jr.  At age 16, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized. He became a member of the "Star" under the leadership of the late James R. Morris.  Reverend Hairston was licensed into the Gospel Ministry to preach and exercise his gifts on March 25, 1990. In August of 1998, after the passing of our former pastor, Reverend James R. Morris, Reverend Hairston took an active role in assisting the Board of Deacons and the Star of Bethlehem Church family in their search for a Pastor.  In May 2000, he continued to serves under the leadership of , Pastor, Reverend William C. Randolph, where he continued to participate with the Youth Choir, Men's Fellowship, Sunday school, and Christian Education Ministry as Director and Youth Department as Director.

In May 2004, Reverend Hairston was called to be the fourth Pastor of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Martinsville.  He actively participates with many organizations including the Baptist Sunday School and BTU Congress of Virginia as an Instructor, the Smith River Missionary Baptist Association and Sunday School Convention as an Instructor; as well as many other civic organizations.  Pastor Hairston also served as Dean and Instructor of the Martinsville Extension of Bethlehem Bible College and Seminary from 2000 to 2002. He currently serves as the First-Vice moderator of Smith River Missionary Baptist Association.

Pastor Hairston is employed with the Henry County Sheriff's Office, where he faithfully serves as a supervisor of the School Resource Officers Crime Prevention and Gang Unit.   He has graduated from several academies including Global Security, Virginia Beach; Gunner's Place, Virginia Beach, and New River Regional Criminal Justice Training, Martinsville.  He has received numerous awards, certificates, and other distinctions of honor; but none can equal or surpass his calling to the Gospel Ministry.
